Mansfield District Council has a unique opportunity available for a Licensing Officer to join the team. The role is a full time, permanent position offering a salary of £20,661 - £24,964 per annum plus benefits.
As one of the largest employers in the area we offer a wide range of services across the district including housing repairs, parks and green spaces, neighbourhood wardens, environmental health, planning and customer services to name just a few.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven Licensing Officer to assist in the development, organisation and delivery of an efficient licensing service. The section comprises a small team of dedicated officers who issue and administer the full range of licences including taxi and private hire drivers, vehicles and operators, sale of alcohol and regulated entertainment, gambling, skin piercing, animal boarding establishments etc.
What are the responsibilities of the Licensing Officer?
You will be expected to consider applications in line with statutory requirements or policy, give advice and respond to enquiries in relation to licensing functions. You will investigate complaints and queries, monitor compliance, review licence conditions and prepare written statements where necessary. You will present reports to Licensing Committee as well as carrying out the full range of enforcement and investigatory duties for the service.
What skills and experience do I need to have to become a Licensing Officer?
We need someone with licensing experience who can work as part of our team, demonstrate first class verbal and written communication skills, is attentive to detail, familiar with key legislation, computer literate and has drive and enthusiasm.
We are looking for a positive, supportive, flexible and innovative individual who is not afraid to challenge current processes and ways of working and who has the capacity to absorb new knowledge quickly and efficiently. Ideally you will have worked in a licensing role in local government or other public service organisation and/or have experience in an enforcement role.
