King Edward VI Grammar School (converted to Academy/MAT status in September 2015) is seeking to appoint a highly organised and professional individual responsible for delivering an outstanding and effective financial support service to the school and to manage the School Finance team.
The post holder will ensure the efficient administration of the daily functions and routines of the School Finance Office and be directly responsible for carrying out many of the tasks and routines. The role will involve the provision of a full accounting service to the School and its staff including; processing transactions, preparation of monthly management accounting information, cash-flow monitoring, financial budget plan compilation and monitoring, preparation of statutory financial returns to the EFA, Directors, Accountants etc. and ensuring audit compliance to the Academies Financial handbook. Production of ad-hoc analysed reports financial information to assist the Finance and Business Development Director, Headmaster and Board Directors in their decision making.
This is a busy role, where the post-holder will have to think on their feet and use their initiative. The role is varied, fast moving and demanding. The post requires a committed team player who is proactive, enthusiastic with excellent inter-personal skills and the ability to review/improve workflows and implement new systems/processes.
The post requires a person with proven financial management experience and a relevant financial qualification e.g. AAT, attention to detail, the ability to maintain confidentiality and interpret financial data are also essential. It is essential that the post-holder is a competent user of Sage or other similar accounting package and be an advanced user of Excel.
The post holder will line manage staff in the School Finance team and be supported and report to the Finance and Business Development Director.
