Our client, leaders in the field of reprocessing and manufacturing plastic are looking for an Operations Team Leader to join their team.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a management position in a manufacturing or FMCG environment and will be comfortable working in a fast paced industry. Our client is undergoing large changes to the working environment due to investment in the plant and a huge demand for their product.

Shift Pattern/Working Hours: x4 on x4 off rotating days/nights (06:00:18:00.18:00:06:00)

Main Duties;

To fundamentally and proactively deliver short time frame objectives against each metric through engaging with the area shift team.

To lead and take responsibility for one of eight shift area teams.

To take accountability for five key metric areas for their area.

Ensuring Health and Safety responsibilities are conducted to the highest possible standard and promoting continuous improvement in this area.

Managing and maintaining the product quality, service provided, monitoring & taking responsibility for finance (yield & labour costs)

Leading a team ensuring people engagement, training and attendance management.

Previous experience with extrusions would be a desirable skill set for the successful applicant

Key Tasks and Accountability's:

- To promote a strong H&S culture: leading by example
- To demonstrate an engaging but challenging leadership style
- To promote team engagement in the structured performance improvement project
- To closely work with the operations manager to optimise plant performance
- To deliver pro active area communication
- To actively participate in the departmental audit process
- To ensure shift surveillance is delivered
- Completion of all safety, operations, quality, process & reporting related documentation to a high standard of accuracy & legibility.
- Achieve KPI's

Essential attributes

- Lean or Six Sigma knowledge
- IT literate - fully versed in MS Office & SAP
- High Numeracy & Literacy levels
- Excellent communication skills
- Be proactive: can identify & deliver actions to drive improvement
- Ability to engage effectively with the line / area team to maximise performance
- Results driven, can push self and motivate others to deliver outstanding results
- Able to work under pressure and deliver results to a defined deadline
- Understand the key principles: top loss management, 5S etc.
