The Company

Our prestigious FMCG client, based in Grimsby over three separate sites; and employing over 1000 (including agency) staff, have a vacancy for an experienced Health and Safety

The Position:

Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager and supporting the delivery of health and safety within the business. Your background / experience will be gained from a food or a similar manufacturing organisation. You will provide appropriate health and safety advice when required throughout the business and ensure accident investigations are carried out in line with company

Role Responsibilities will include:

Working with a small team of two site Health & Safety Coordinators:

  • Ensure Health & Safety inductions are carried out
  • Ensure agreed Health & Safety training is implemented
  • Maintain records as necessary to ensure compliance with statutory legislation
  • Assist with various risk assessments as required by the Health & Safety Manager
  • Participate in the work of site Health & Safety committees
  • Undertake regular inspections of sites and workplaces to determine if work tasks are being carried out in accordance with Company policy, procedures and the relevant statutory provisions
  • Keep records of inspection findings and produce reports with recommendations for improvement
  • Assist in the preparation and review of Health & Safety documents
  • Assist in the preparation of Health & Safety Management reports
  • Work with other managers to develop and support the company's approach to employee well-being.


Deputise for Health & Safety Manager as required.

The Person:

We are looking for candidates who are motivated and have a ‘can do' attitude. You will need to be organised and methodical and able to react promptly to business demands. You must be able to prioritise and plan your workload efficiently. In addition, will need a high degree of inter-personal skills and must be a team player, able to act on your own initiative, but must recognise when the Health & Safety Manager's involvement is

Knowledge, Skills & Experience required:


  • NEBOSH Certificate
  • Food Manufacturing experience
  • Experience of dealing with Union Safety Reps and Representatives of Employee Safety
  • Experienced in wide range of risk assessments including operational tasks, machinery, noise, fire, manual handling, COSHH, pregnancy and DSE
  • Good business writing skills
  • Clean driving licence
