Finance Manager

Location:  Sir Colin Campbell Building, University of Nottingham Innovation Park, Triumph Road, Nottingham, UK

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Part time (21.75 hours per week)

Salary: £29,301 to £38,183 pro rata per annum, depending upon experience

We are looking for an experienced finance professional to join our team.

The Finance Manager will support the work of the EACR, ensuring that our financial systems and processes develop to meet the needs of our growing organisation.  We are looking for a friendly, proactive individual with excellent financial, administrative and organisational skills, including an exceptional eye for detail.

Responsibilities include:

  • Keeping full and accurate management accounts in line with current best practice
  • Providing quarterly finance reports to the Chief Operating Officer showing performance against budget, identifying key variances, trends and issues for review
  • Identifying an appropriate financial management system for the EACR and transferring the accounts to this system from the current Excel system
  • Liaising with the accountants on the quarterly VAT return
  • Being responsible for year-end finance procedures
  • Supporting the Chief Operating Officer with the preparation of the annual budget and longer-term forecasting and reporting on the financial performance of individual areas of the EACR’s activity
  • Reviewing the EACR’s financial policies and processes and developing a Finance Manual to provide key information for staff and Board members

About you

We are looking for someone with recognised accounting qualifications (fully AAT or part CCAB qualified, or equivalent).  You will have employment experience in at least one finance role, preferably in a charity or not-for-profit organisation.  You will be comfortable working independently, but will be a friendly member of our small team of nine staff.  You will need to be confident, tenacious and able to bring about change to ensure that our finance arrangements continue to improve and develop to meet the needs of our organisation.
