Contract Supervisor - Recycling & Recovery

SUEZ is looking to recruit a Contract Supervisor to join our municipal team in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire. Reporting to the Contract Manager, the Contract Supervisor will be responsible for day to day operations on the Scunthorpe / North Lincolnshire Contract. What will I be doing as a Contract Supervisor? The successful candidate will work closely with the other members of the management team, supervising transfer station operations, to ensure operations are compliant for health & safety, mobile plant and environmental compliance, ensuring all are always kept to the highest standards. Various day to day tasks will include managing the transfer of waste including arranging bulk haulage within timeframes, servicing of all plant including LOLER inspections ensuring compliance in all areas. Further responsibilities will include managing staff allocation, holidays and absences ensuring personnel levels are kept in line with budget and the service provided in line with the specification to our client, Scunthorpe / North Lincolnshire Council. The Supervisor will need to ensure comprehensive inductions are completed in line with the companies polices and procedures and the inductees fully understand their responsibilities. For all staff they will need to make sure periodic training is carried out to maintain the required high standards and that when they are not achieved they need to recognise the appropriate steps to take, whether through coaching to remedy or to initiate disciplinary procedures, if necessary. What are the requirements? (Qualifications and experience) Applicants must be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the industry and be able to make decisions accordingly. A strong team player is required so that continual improvements can be made to the operations at Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire. Working with and managing a team the successful candidate must be able to engage with the workforce to ensure compliance in all areas of the business. Previous supervisory experience is essential. Experience of working within a busy logistics operation involving fleet compliance is essential. Candidates will require a full driving licence, good IT skills and previous experience with Microsoft packages. IOSH or NEBOSH qualification in health & safety would be desirable but not essential. A HGV licence would be desirable but is not essential as would COTC.
