Mechanical Design Engineer £Competitive| Grantham Mechancial Design Engineer Lincolnshire £competitive Our client is a global manufacturing business and we have a fantastic opportunity for someone to join their Division in Lincolnshire within their Design and Projects team. The business designs and manufactures bespoke mobile hydraulic valves for various applications - agricultural, mining, construction, quarrying among others. They currently have two people in this team and are looking for a third person to join them, reporting to the Technical Manager in the business. Whilst this is a design focused role, it also requires someone who is both commercially minded and who has excellent communication skills - with the ability to communicate well with customers and other internal business areas. There is an opportunity to progress within the business in to Project Engineering or Project Management and other areas. Job Purpose - To ensure quality of drawings provided in the factory and to supplies are to an appropriate standard. - Perform drawing changes as required, predominantly in 3D, with minor changes in 2D. - Project manage internal and external designs working with customers, production and suppliers - Provide problem solving solutions to internal & external suppliers and customers - Investigate problem issues as they arise across the factory. Key Accountabilities - Provide CAD drawings & models as required, predominantly in 3D but also in 2D packages - Control projects as they occur for new or modification of design, or in house system improvements - Ensure that all drawings are maintained to an appropriate standard for both internal and sub contract manufacture - Load & maintain MRP system with BOM's in line with drawings and request - coordinate costings for quotation purposes - Perform Product Waiver Approval/Rejection taking advice as required - Maintain project files as required - Investigate, analyse and provide solutions to problem as they occur - Identify opportunities to reduce cost by design, process, or procurement etc. - Provide technical support for products supplied - Provide engineering support by way of responding to problems as they occur on the shop floor or through requests for improvement and changes etc. For someone with the right experience, the role could also involve product testing, working on test rigs and some project engineering. Experience Required - 3D draughting & modelling of components - ideally for bespoke applications/products - 2D & 3D CAD - ideally Pro-E / Creo, other experience considered - Experience of castings and casting design - Ability to produce, read and check engineering drawings - Understanding and interpretation of engineering and drawing standards - Proficient in the use of FEA and CFD development tools - Ability to identify and resolve problems using contemporary techniques - Engineering knowledge - Creative thinker with good problem solving skills - Flexible approach with the ability to manage various priorities - Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently - Good communication skills The following would be beneficial however is by now means essential; - Knowledge of Hydraulic components and system function - Some ability to read and draw hydraulic circuits - Knowledge/experience in mobile or industrial hydraulic applications This is a fantastic opportunity to join a thriving, multi-national business that can open a world of future career opportunities for people.
