Job location(s): Witham St Hughs, Lincoln, UK As a senior member on our rape crush desk, this role will take responsibility for merchandising rapeseed and rapeseed products produced by Cargill in the UK. The candidate will be committed to identifying and capitalising opportunities to maximise margins and strengthen Cargill's market position. A fundamental part of the role will be forming key relationships with suppliers and partners to ensure correct market access. Working as part of a wider team, the candidate will also manage commercial risks of a physical supply chain business, including commodity price risk and commercial asset management. We are looking for an articulate, confident, self-reliant independent worker with the ability to interact with customers and internal members of staff. The candidate will have strong negotiation and communication skills with the ability to drive positive outcomes. The position holder will work closely with colleagues across our Oilseed Rape Crushing facilities in Liverpool and Hull. Main Tasks: Merchandise seed, oil and meal on a daily basis in accordance with local teams merchandising game plan Establish sales/ purchase prices for significant volume on a real time basis and negotiate sales/ purchasing contracts with customers/ suppliers Develop deep relationships with current and potential suppliers of rape seed to create the correct market access to supply our UK crush plants. Develop relationships with current and potential customers to merchandise rape crush products (e.g oil) Obtain a thorough understanding of the customer and the markets in which they operate Create high quality market reports, providing market data and market analysis for customers Identify and explore ideas and opportunities to capture added value through providing customer solutions Contribute to customer-specific key Account Plans Manage customer contracts to capture all value created, including IT-system entry, commercial trade execution overview, issue-management Commercial management of all supply chain options, ensuring accurate supply chain costs are fully considered in all merchandising decisions Ensuring customer exposures are within agreed and current limits Develop and execute UK game plan for risk management and trading strategies (premiums, FX, futures hedging, spreads, flat cash and freight) Lead accurate administration of daily risk positions and activity Responsible for daily positions and P&L and daily position reconciliation Monthly in-depth analysis of profit and loss results of products Maintenance and use of accurate Supply and Demand data as a working tool for creating gameplans Commercial management of crushing assets and inherent risks Liaise with planning and operations teams to maximise efficiency of rape crushing assets in Hull and Liverpool including monthly analysis of costs and revenues of the plant Build strong cross functional internal relations Deputise for the merchandising manager when required Provide coaching/ training to team merchants and graduate trainees Attend industry events and dinners representing Cargill and present at Cargill's annual customer conference Qualifications Substantial proven supplier or customer facing experience Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject (business or economics) would be strongly preferred Proven experience in merchandising and or trading agricultural commodities - seed origination or oil experience would be an advantage. Working knowledge of commodity markets, grains & oilseed supply and demand, competition, crushing, silo and port operations and logistics Knowledge of the factors that impact agricultural commodities and the supply chain Ability to deliver results Proven commercial acumen and strong negotiation skills with knowledge of contracts Excellent time management and prioritisation skills Strong analytical and numerical skills Strong communication skills, written and oral with fluency in English PC literate (Intermediate/ Advanced Excel use) Ability to lead and coach locally based merchants and graduate trainee's Team player Some UK travel will be required, some foreign travel may be required Our Offer In return for your expertise and commitment, we will provide a fast paced stimulating international environment, which will stretch your abilities and channel your talents.
