Summary Our client, a food manufacturer based within Lincolnshire is recruiting a Quality Manager. The company have a growing product base and supplies major retailers throughout the UK including Tesco. The role is a days' based positions working Monday-Friday. The Role Reporting into the Technical Manager, you will lead a team of QA controllers and also contribute as a member of the site senior management team. You'll be responsible for providing guidance, supervision and vision in supporting their comprehensive quality and food safety systems. An essential part of the role will be ensuring that the organisation continually meets customer expectations and regulatory standards. This will involve leading and preparing for British Retail Consortium (BRC) audits and dealing face-to-face with customers when on site. You'll need to focus on continuous improvement and champion their quest for excellence in quality performance. Duties will include: - Leading the QA team displaying confidence in your own abilities and judgements, with responsibility for ensuring quality of products leaving site conforms with the specifications laid down by the customer. - To take a lead role in the running of the QA department, providing coaching/direction for the team members to drive continuous performance improvement. - Offering knowledge and skills in order to generate and promote a positive health and safety culture. - Overall responsibility for the day to day running of the QA function and team. - Ensuring products meets the required specification and through liaising with the Production Team, that production is completed as efficiently as possible without compromising the product quality. - Taking appropriate action with out of specification products, - Lead/be involved with quality issues internally and externally investigating available information to establish root cause and implement corrective action. - Ensuring all specified equipment and environmental cleaning regimes are implemented and documented following quality system/HACCP requirements thus ensuring the highest standards of hygiene/housekeeping. - To set and drive best technical standards within the factory - Assist the Technical manager in investigating and taking the necessary corrective actions from any non-conformances that are raised from both internal and external audits. - To be actively involved in the development and implementation of continuous improvement (LEAN) for the department, to include Health and Safety which must always take precedence. - Maintenance and implementation of site quality management system, ensuring external and internal standards are met and BRC 'A Grade' and Tesco Packhouse Produce Standard 'Green Status' is retained at subsequent audits. - Assisting with the site HACCP plan to ensure expected standards of product integrity and food safety are achieved and maintained. - To ensure all manufacturing standards are adhered to, so that the end products are to the correct quality standards, within wastage tolerances and produced on time. Investigating and improving when results are outside of set targets. - To ensure that Health and Safety and company policies are strictly adhered to, and be involved in risk assessment activities. - To participate in improvement strategies for the department for improving operations and eliminating waste from the business. This will involve taking the time to listen and encourage people to share concerns and issues, valuing and utilising the skills and abilities of others. - To record and manage all necessary KPI information as required. The Candidate Ideally have a chilled industry background, have sound knowledge of production processes, quality assurance, cost control and other disciplines for maximising the effective production and distribution of their products.
