Senior Estimator - Grimsby My client is a leading provider of professional technical services throughout the UK with a portfolio of comprehensive range of business solutions across engineering, architecture, construction, operations and maintenance and scientific and specialty consulting. Role Profile: The Estimator is responsible for developing and managing to estimate plans, contributing to and overseeing the detailed development of the estimates, coordinating with other departments and/or offices as required and conducting estimate reviews with senior management. Responsibilities: - Prepare and manage estimate/ bid packages, ensuring all required documentation is included. - Assign resources to bids/ estimates based on project scope and internal expertise. - Assist in (and when required) the development of the construction execution plan, which will form part of the basis of the estimate. - Prepare discipline by discipline quantity take-offs (earthworks, concrete, structural, equipment installation, piping fabrication, installation and pressure testing, electrical and instrumentation). - Work with subcontracts to prepare and distribute subcontractor RFQ packages for work within project scope but not performed internally, including defining the scope of work, providing drawings, specifications and required documentation. - Develop detailed indirect estimates, both on and off site support. - Complete detailed cost calculations including indirect and direct labour, material, rentals, subcontracts, and equipment. - Determine specific strategies in response to bids including scheduling, execution plan and subcontractor requirements. - Gather, analyze, input and compile information for negotiated work and submit required information to Operations. Qualifications - 10 years of experience in an estimating role, preferably in an industrial construction environment. - Proficient with office software (MS Word and Excel) and experienced in computerized estimating systems. - Experience in reading heavy industrial drawings and specifications and translating them into cost estimates. - Heavy industrial project execution planning and critical path scheduling, - Detail oriented, self-motivated, and resourceful, with strong interpersonal skills. - Mechanical, piping, structural, and electrical experience. - Strong time management skills, confidentiality, and professionalism.
